International Standards

Ushindi is committed to meeting international educational standards. We have partnered with Word Of life International School for  Cambridge International Exams; spiritual development and other critical areas. Our candidates have been able to perform well in their exams with a number of As especially in the sciences. We are actively pursuing accreditation from reputable organizations such as Cambridge International Education, ensuring our curriculum is recognized globally and our students are prepared for international opportunities. We are also mindful of our Ugandan context in learning to prepare our children to live a holistic life in the global village.

Why Cambridge International Education

We use the Cambridge International Education, CIE,  because it is accepted by many universities in the world. The methods of teaching and assessment emphasize  practical through projects, relevant and problem-solving application reasoning and application of knowledge. There are four categories to choose for IGSCE from  (1) languages English and a Foreign Language (2) Sciences  (3) Humanities (4) Vocational and (5) Sciences. We do the following subjects:

Relationship with the Education System in Uganda

The Cambridge and the Uganda system of Education are compatible. There are many subjects like mathematics that will remain math wherever one studies from. There are little variation of which class a topic is taught but the full content is taught. There are very few topics that have been removed to remain relevant to the learning situations. The Ugandan system was derived from Cambridge in the 1970s. The curriculum in Uganda developed much content that is related to the conditions in Uganda. A hybrid  learning enables our children to live productively in Uganda. In Ushindi we use these information to ground our students in the local content. We found it useful for our student to know what happens in Uganda as well as international information.

Further studies opportunities.

Graduates from Ushindi, with  A level the Cambridge certificate of education, are in universities in Uganda and other countries in the world. Some universities require equating your results to the national curriculum. Example of placement of Ushindi  alumnae are:

How does Ushindi offer a unique education?

Our classes are small to enable personalized attention to each child. Learning time is six hours in total. Homework is not so much. We believe the extra time for the child is necessary to internalize the lessons learnt. We have noticed the national system encourages hard work. We encourage our students to work hard to perform well in their studies. We believe in the parents role in education through close contact at home. We encourage regular feedback from parents.
